Fire Performance to Light Up the Streets!
Downtown Courtenay lights up the night with a Moonlight and Magic Live Fire Performance Friday at 6:30 sharp on Duncan Ave with NOVA Fire Spun Arts! The local performers make magic with fire and deliver a magical and breathtaking performance that will delight and dazzle all ages! The Moonlight and Magic Fire show is becoming a real not-to-be-missed annual tradition in Downtown Courtenay! Visitors can also enjoy roving performers, live music, kids craft activities, Magical Faces Face Painting, cozy campfires and more in a variety of downtown locations right through till 9 pm.

Celebrate Comox Valley Art Gallery’s 40th birthday!
Friday Night the Comox Valley Art Gallery is hosting their 40th birthday party from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join them for snacks, warm beverages and a birthday cake. There will be brief remarks at 5 p.m. While you’re there check out the 40th Annual CVAG Christmas Craft Fair featuring work by over 60 local artists. They’re open 10-9 on Friday, November 21 and 10-5 on Saturday, Nov. 22!

Live Music Part of the Fun
Valley favourite and Todd Butler will offer up great music and big laughs on the CVAG Plaza at 5:30. Come pull up a chair by the fire and enjoy some awesome tunes! Later in the evening at 8 pm you can tuck away into the Old Dive Shop for a mesmerizing musical experience with The Moon Band.

The Moon Band is a collaboration of Renée Forrester and Nicholas Tomlinson. An eclectic duo, they use instruments such as the Bouzouki, Autoharp, Classical Guitar, Fiddle, Sitar, Keyboard and Recorder, and draw influences from many genres such as traditional music, psychedelic folk, rock n’ roll and more. Nick and Renée create a mystical and magical sort of music, and play a mix of unique originals and covers. Their music can be described as dreamy, other worldly, playful, free spirited and holds a bit of good ol’ foot tapping folk! There are limited seats for this special one hour concert!

Fall harvests are still coming in! Root veggies, apples, greens, brussel sprouts, potatoes, squash and more.

Plus sustainably raised meats: beef, bison, water buffalo, poultry (get your turkey order in!), eggs, honey, cheese and yogurt.

Along with healthy body products, herbs and spices, preserves, baking of all kinds including for special diets, ready to eat and take home meals.

Elasmosaurs Birthday – Downtown Courtenay

Elasmosaur and fossil related activities will include dinosaur movies, fossil exhibits and a chance to talk to paleo experts for fossil identification.

For those in a more Christmas frame of mind there will be a chance to make children’s Christmas crafts and enjoy a reading of “The Dinosaurs’ Night Before Christmas”.

Or maybe you’d just like to come by for some cake or Christmas goodies and enter your name for a chance to win a door prize!

Gillian from Detailed Face Painting will also be on hand to add some colour to the day. There is a $5 charge per face.

Admission to this event is free to any family that brings in either a new or gently used unwrapped toy for Santa’s Workshop or a food donation for a local food bank.

Fiesta takes place at the Filberg Center, 411 Anderton Ave., downtown Courtenay, behind the Sid Williams Theatre at 5th St. and Cliffe Ave. The building is accessible and free childcare is provided.

There is a $2 admission. The rental at the Filberg, advertising and transportation is becoming difficult for the vendors to cover. Your $2 will assure that they can continue to bring the world to the Valley and support the artisans and their families.

Both floors of the Filberg Center will be transformed into a Global Craft Bazaar by over 40 local and global organizations and businesses selling their fair trade products. These vendors work directly with the artisans in Africa, Asia, and Central and South America. The vendors come from Vancouver, Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo, Parksville, Campbell River and the Comox Valley.

Comox Valley Christmas Parade
2:00pm – 5th Street

The parade starts at 2:00 pm on Sunday November 23rd, 2014, and lasts about 1 hour.

The annual parade has grown into a huge event drawing families from all over the Comox Valley to see the over 40 floats, bands, dance troupes and more entered. This year, with thousands of cash and gift certificates up for the winners of the different categories for best entries, there will be a lot of excitement.
